SHIP NEPAL works both in urban and rural areas of the country implementing programmes those related to environment and sustainable development. Our current project sites are in the districts of Chitwan, Gorkha, Kathmandu, Lalipur, Rasuwa and Tanahun.


Family Support and Empowerment Program in Nepal

As on of the poorest countires in the world, Nepal has been virtually crippled by years of poor governance nd civil unrest. With hte average annual wage standing at hardly it's not surprising that the economically impoverished condition of a child's family is our single most encountered reason fo a child not attending school, Whether an elder child has been sent to work in order to supplement the family's income or a child turns to the street to seek refuge from an abusive alcoholice parent at home the problem can usually be traced back to a few ever present factors the most apparent one being proverty.
It makes sense then , that if we are to be truly successful in our mission. we must attempt to ensure that the families of children we assist are provided with access to sustainable incomes. Sufficient to provide for their own children's specific needs and helped towareds a dignified independence from charitable hand outs. There's not much long-term benefit to be had by simply paying for a child's education indefinitely. In cat if tanken as the overalll solution, it generally proves to be somewhat counter productive especially in term of relieving parents of their reponsibilities and crating an extremelyu dumagin situation of dependence. It is for this very reason that we have begun investingating possibilities of working on aa case by case basis to improve the family income generation potential of each child's family.

Human Rights Education Programm in Nepal

Human rights education is not only about courses and seminars. It is about all the learning processes that contibute to the promotion and protection of human rights . It could be a seminar for politicians on human rights compliance in legislatioon, a seven day course human riths educators on learning processes, or a year long dialogue with educational institutions about organizing their institution through a human riths based process.
Human rights education is a process about human riths,s for human rights and throught human rithts.
Education about human rithts is education intended to deliver knowledge of types of rights, international legal instruments, and mechanisms for promotion human riths and ensuring human rights compliance . An example would be a course for civil servants on the internaitonal human rights law relating to their area of work and their duties in securing certain rights .
Education through humasn rights is a process of creating a learning environment thtat is demonstrates human rights principles and promotes human rights - a human rights based approach to education. The educator deliberately acts in accordance with human rights by promoting equal treatment and empowering decision making processes among educatioon participants. Nepal also do this by promoting awareness of the importance of accountability by conducting ongoing evaluations of their own performance.
